Current TV Favorites

Happy Friday, everyone! Today is going to be all about TV shows. If you know me personally or follow me on social media, chances are you are aware of my TV and Film obsession. Let's be honest, I consume A LOT of content. So here we go: this post is featuring my current top 5 TV shows that I've been watching recently.

1. Game of Thrones

Let's get this one out of the way: we all know I have a Game of Thrones addiction and so far the new season is living up to all of my expectations. If I could be on this TV show I would cry so many tears of joy. Even though I probably wouldn't last very long, since there's quite a quick character turnover and nobody is ever safe. Speaking of character turnover, how about that Purple Wedding? I reckon weddings just aren't a good event to attend these days...

2. The Walking Dead

I've had a love-hate relationship with season 4 of The Walking Dead. I thought the first half of the season leading up to the BIG Rick vs. The Governor mid-season finale was amazing. And then... they kind of lost me. I don't want to spoil anything, but basically most of the episodes were what I call "transitional" and focused on small sets of characters. I even fell behind and didn't actually finish the the season until last week. However, the last three episodes made up for all of that transition time. Oh. My. God. First of all, the whole episode about Carol and the girls was insane and I still can't believe what happened - I had a feeling it wasn't going to end well, but this?! The two after that were just as intense, with the group ending up in what seems like a completely new kind of trouble. What are your theories?

3. House of Cards

I've mentioned my love for House of Cards in this post already, but I thought I should update you and let you know I've finished the second season, which was just as great as the first. The last episode wrapped it up in a way that could have potentially wrapped up the entire series, but looks like it's just a start of a whole new level Kevin Spacey intensity. Him and Robin Wright have amazing chemistry and they are mesmerizing to watch. Good news: season 3 is coming. Bad news: it's not until 2015.

4. The Originals

OK, so I'm a big fan of The Vampire Diaries and when CW announced this spin off I didn't really have high expectations for it. I knew I would watch it purely out of my love for Klaus and Elijah, but it actually turned out to have an interesting story of its own! In the meantimes I haven't been very excited about The Vampire Diaries plot - the whole travelers' situation confuses me and Elena has made Damon into a whiner. Team Stefan forever! But I digress. The Originals have kept my attention this entire season and I am loving all of the new characters and plot twists the show has brought. I hope this show sticks around for a while and I'm pretty excited it's been renewed for the second season.

5. Mad Men

As the final season of Mad Men started airing, I thought I should get back to watching this show. Now, because it's been a while and I couldn't remember what was the last episode I watched, I actually had to start from the beginning. I'm only up to season 4, so PLEASE, no spoilers! Originally I had trouble getting into it, but now this is my favorite show to binge watch (thanks, Netflix!) It's incredibly well made and well cast, but I think the story flows much better when you watch it continuously rather than one episode a week. It may drive me to drinking though because everyone on Mad Men does it so well - I can't help wanting to join in. Jokes aside, if you're looking for a good drama with a questionable "hero" you should get on this bandwagon.

Do you watch either of these?
